Tree View is the default view, and it provides the main navigation to the various features of the Explorer GUI and its installed plug-ins. The tree view displays the following types of nodes, depending on the installed plug-in that is currently in focus:
The first node in a tree. More than one tree can appear in the left pane.
Nodes that have child nodes. Parent nodes appear in the left and right panes.
Nodes that have a parent node. Child nodes appear in the left and right panes.
Nodes that lack child nodes. Leaf nodes are usually displayed only in the right pane.
The plug-ins in some cases use the concepts folder and object. A node can represent a folder or an object. Plug-in help describes the exact terminology used for a plug-in. A plug-in can use more than one tree and, therefore, have more than one root node.
By definition, folders are always root, parent, or child nodes but never leaf nodes.
Objects may be root, parent, child, or leaf nodes. Rules do not apply strictly here. In some plug-ins a node is an object, not a folder, containing child nodes.
