Convert Incidents into Projects

If you get a notification from an IT worker to convert an incident to a project task, use the notification you received to link to the incident. The method you are notified is dependent on your personal notification settings. These settings are managed on the Account Settings: Notifications page.

Incidents must be flagged for conversion before you can convert them.

To convert an incident into a project

  1. On the Incident List page, select the Assigned To Me tab.
  2. Select the check box for the incident you want to convert into a project, and then click Convert to Project.

    The Select Conversion Type page appears.

  3. Do one of the following:
  4. Click Next.

    The Create Project page appears.

    Certain data is transferred from the incident to the new project. For example, the name of the project is pre-populated with the incident short description.

  5. Complete the remaining fields on the page.

  6. Close the incident.

Note: If more work is required to resolve the incident, it can be reopened by the IT project staff.
