Explore Alternative Services

You can compare performance information from your internal services with comparison data from Cloud Commons to help you make better decisions in your business environment. Unlike a CA Business Service Insight Study, this feature provides a comparison snapshot that you can use to determine the value of crafting a more detailed study.

Follow these steps:

1. On the Services menu, click Service Overview.

   The Service Overview page opens.

2. Select a view filter to display only the services you want to participate in the comparison process. For example, select E-mail to filter by that category.

   The service list is filtered to display only the selected category.

3. Click the Explore Alternative Services button.

   A new screen opens and you are prompted to select a service category.

4. Select a service category from the drop-down menu.

   The Compare External Services page opens, which lists services on Cloud Commons in the selected category. Up to ten services are displayed.

5. Select the check box next to the name of at least two services to compare to your internal services.

   To refine your comparison, you can also set the parameters for weighting:

   Weighting

   Use the default "natural" weighting in which each characteristic in the comparison framework is given equal weight, or select another weight from the drop-down list. You can also create a new weight.

6. Click Compare.

   The Service Evaluation page opens which display all the available data for your comparison.

7. Review the comparison data, and link to Cloud Commons using the provided links. Then select one of the following actions:
   • Click Edit to return to the Compare External Services screen and change the criteria for your comparison.
   • Click New Evaluation to select a different service category for your comparison.
   • Click Create a Study to save your information for future use in a study.
   • Click Export to export your comparison data to a PDF file.

Note: To navigate back to the Service Overview page, click New Evaluation to return to the Compare External Services page, then click Return to Previous Page.
