Add an Unmanaged Adapter
Unmanaged adapters are the adapters that are created in the CA Business Service Insight user interface without using the wizard, specifying only some key details. The configuration file is created in this case in a manual manner.
To add an unmanaged adapter
- In the Adapters page, click Add New/Adapter (Unmanaged configuration). The Adapter Details page is displayed.
- In Name, enter the name of the adapter.
- In Description, enter a description for the adapter.
- In Type, select the adapter type, Text file adapter or Sql adapter, from the drop-down list.
- In Initiator, select Adapter or Server. This decides whether the adapter or the server (Adapter Listener) initiates communication between them. This parameter is important in cases where a firewall stands between them, forcing the adapter listener to initiate contact.
- In Network Address, enter the network address of the adapter.
- In Port, enter the port number of the adapter.
Note: The port number must be between 1024 and 49151.
- In Time zone, select the data source time zone from the drop-down list. The time zone describes the time zone of the time fields gathered from the data source.
The system displays a list of time zones defined in the CA Business Service Insight system and allows the user to select from the list. For more information, see Time Zones.
- Select the Use Resource Time Zone check to have the Adapter Listener use the time zone set in the resource, if it is set, instead of the adapter time zone.
- Select the Secured handshake check box to define the level of authentication between the adapter and the CA Business Service Insight server.
- In Key, click Generate to create a random key used to secure the connection between the adapter and CA Business Service Insight. This field is enabled if the Secured handshake check box is checked.
Note: The user can fill-in the Key field manually by typing a 32-digit number.
- In Generated events, select the event type(s) that are used by the adapter from the Available list and move to the Include list.
- In Used translation tables, select the translation table(s) that are used by the adapter from the Available list and move to the Include list.
- Click Save to save changes and return to the previous page.
- Click Cancel to discard changes and return to the previous page.
