Duplicating an Existing Environment

We recommend performing this process so that the synchronization process is done with no Name conflicts.

In this process, the user creates one or more exact duplicates of an existing environment, generally from the Production environment, using a data dump, VM copy, etc. The original environment continues to be used normally and the copies are used as Development or Testing, etc. A Post-Duplication tool is then used to modify the metadata belonging to each of the entities in the duplicated environment to prevent synchronization failures.

To duplicate an existing environment:

1. Migrate the existing environment to CA Business Service Insight.
2. Duplicate the environment.
3. Run the Post-Duplication tool as follows:

   Go to <install directory>\CA\Cloud Insight\Utilities and double-click ObliSyncEnvDuplicateSetup.exe. The tool runs and updates the GUIDs.

   Note: Generally, <install directory> is C:\Program Files.
