How to Modify Committed Contracts
To modify a committed contract, you can do one of the following:
- If it is a Pending contract, you can uncommit it, which changes its status back to Preliminary, enabling it to be modified.
- If it is an Effective contract, a new contract version must be created. A new version can be modified until it is committed, at which point its status changes to either Pending or Effective, as described above.
- The previous version remains Effective until the start date of the new version, at which point the new version becomes Effective and the previous version becomes Not Effective. You can continue to generate reports that include Not Effective versions of the contract.
- If the new version overlaps the dates of the previous version completely, the status of the previous version becomes Canceled as soon as the new version is committed. Reports that include this version are no longer possible.
- If a contract is no longer needed for reports or service-level calculations it can be archived. Typically, archiving is performed on contracts that no longer have an effective version.
