Create a Clustered Metric

A clustered metric is a metric that calculates the provided value for each element of a cluster separately. A clustered metric can be Static or Dynamic. When you cluster over a resource group, you do not need to create a metric for each of the clustered items. You also do not need to add a new metric every time a new member is added to the resource group.

When you define a dynamic clustered metric, a recursive clustering feature enables you to define the clustered metric. This feature enables you to:

Note: Defining resource groups is described in Adding a Resource Group.

Follow these steps:

  1. In the Metric Details page, click the Clustering tab.
  2. Select This metric is clustered, as follows, and then:
  3. Select the resource group to which the clustering metric applies.
  4. Select one of the following options:
  5. Select one or more resources from the selected group and click OK. The selected resources are added to the Static list.
  6. Click OK.

    The clustered metric is added.

Note: You can use the search results grid to obtain information on clustered metrics. In the search results grid menu bar, click Grid Setting button. Select Show/Hide Columns. The Grid Settings window opens. Scroll down to select Cluster Base Group Click OK. The column is added to the search results list.
