Widgets Overview

A widget is a graphic symbol that enables the user to interact with CA Business Service Insight through the Dashboard. It provides a representation that uses a control selected from a list of available graphical controls.

The Dashboard includes the following types of widget graphics:

The user can define a personal name for the widget, which is used in the Dashboard only.

Each widget has an Information bar Dashboard-Information bar that includes:

  1. The widget's name (1)
  2. An Information icon - Appears if a calculation result cannot be displayed (2). A tooltip explaining the reason appears when pointing to the icon.
  3. A Notes icon - Appears if a note exists (3). If a new unread note exists the icon is Dashboard-New note icon.
  4. A Menu icon (4)
  5. Current status icon (5) - Appears if the widget is set to monitor current status.

The user can select whether the Information bar displays or hidden. For more information, see Widget Settings.

A tooltip that shows general information about the entity displays when hovering over the widget.

The user can resize the widget so that its full name can be seen in the Information bar.

When an error exists in the Dashboard or it has not finished calculating, a clear indication is shown (Dashboard-Gray Alert Icon). For more information, see Roil-up Calculation Methods.
