Frequently Asked Questions

Property Details

Complete the following fields:

Server Name

Specifies the hostname of the server. If you do not know the hostname, type the IP address in the IP Address field and click DNS. The management console attempts to resolve the hostname. If the server is already added to the management console, enter the host name. The management console does not resolve the host name of an existing server.

IP Address

Specifies the management IP address of the server. If you do not know the IP address, type the hostname in the Server Name field and click IP. The management console attempts to resolve the IP address.

User Modified

Indicates whether an administrator has changed the default server properties.

SNMP Profile Name

(Optional) Specifies an SNMP profile that identifies a known SNMP user on the server whose credentials the management console can use to launch a Performance via SNMP investigation on the server.

If you choose None, the management console automatically discovers and assigns a SNMP profile when attempting to launch a Performance via SNMP investigation on the server.

Note that the profile you assign to the server does not apply to SNMP trap notifications for the server. When you configure a SNMP trap notification, you also assign the appropriate SNMP profile.

Monitor

Specifies the monitor feed that you think can best monitor the server. If there is a better monitor feed, the management console automatically changes your assignment.

(Optional) To permanently assign a monitor feed, choose the monitor feed you want and click Pin. To enable the management console to automatically assign a monitor feed to the server, clear this option.

Depending on your environment, the following monitor feeds are available. Choose:

Tip The management console automatically combines response time metrics from all Cisco WAE devices to calculate application response time on each network segment. If there is a monitor that is monitoring the server SPAN, and the monitor is closest to the server, the management console assigns that monitor feed to monitor the Server segment. Otherwise, the management console assigns the WAN Opt monitor feed to a server.

Source Set

(Optional) Specifies a source set to specify a group WAN Optimization devices that monitor the server.

Maintenance Schedule

(Optional) Specifies a server maintenance schedule to specify periods of server maintenance.

Incident Response

(Optional) Specifies a server incident response to specify how the management console responds to a server incident.

Availability Monitoring

(Optional) Specifies whether to enable or disable availability monitoring on an IPv4 server. By default, the management console actively checks server availability if the application’s availability cannot be determined by passively observing application activity.

Tip: Checking server availability helps you determine whether an application availability issue is related to the application or the server which hosts the application.

Notes

(Optional) Defines additional information about the server configuration, such as:
