Data Monitoring - Port Exclusion Properties
View and manage port exclusions to specify which application ports you do not want to monitor. By default, the management console monitors all application ports.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why should I add port exclusion rules? A port exclusion filters the application port traffic at the monitoring device and maximizes the available resources on the management console database, while at the same time focusing the management console user’s attention on the applications of interest. A port exclusion takes precedence over system- and user-defined applications. For example, if you want to create a user-defined application, and there is an existing port exclusion that matches the port range you want, you must edit the port exclusion to allow the management console to monitor the port range, and then create the application.
- Where can I apply a port exclusion? Apply a port exclusion to all servers in a domain or server subnetwork, or to particular servers. Note that you can apply a port exclusion to the server subnetworks that you defined to collect data for the management console, or create a custom server subnetwork.
