Manage performance thresholds for the WAN segment of a WAN-optimized application.
To specify custom Minor and Major thresholds, select the Customize option and then specify a value.
Specifies that you do not want the management console to consider this metric when creating a network or server incident. For example, if you set the Minor threshold for the Network Round Trip Response Time metric to None, the management console does not use this metric to report on minor network performance degradations. However, the management console can create a network incident if the Minor threshold for any of the remaining 3 network metrics is exceeded.
If you choose this option, the management console rates the metric as Unrated.
For a time-based threshold, such as Network Round Trip Time, specifies the threshold value in milliseconds.
In general, server performance should be consistent across all client networks, so you can use millisecond values for server metrics. If necessary, you can specify a sensitivity threshold value that is calculated from a static value in milliseconds.
Sets the threshold based on previously rated data. You can adjust the sensitivity to past performance between a range of 0 (insensitive) to 200 (very sensitive).
The sensitivity setting has an inverse relationship to the threshold: The lower the sensitivity setting, the higher the threshold is set. For example, depending on previously rated data for Network Round Trip Time, a Sensitivity value of 200 can have a 3 millisecond threshold value, while a 5 millisecond threshold value can have a Sensitivity value of 166.
To calculate a Sensitivity value from a static percentage or millisecond value, click
to open the Sensitivity Calculator for the appropriate metric, specify a static value, and click --> to display the Sensitivity value. For evaluation purposes, the calculator always displays the static values for the 200 and 0 Sensitivity values.
If you see the following message, the management console has not yet rated the data as Normal, Minor (yellow), or Major (orange), so it cannot calculate a sensitivity value:
"Percentile data does not yet exist for this selection."
Specify the minimum number of observations, or times that the monitoring device must calculate a metric during a 5-minute interval. For example, the monitoring device can calculate Server Connection Time once per TCP transaction, but the monitoring device calculates Network Round Trip Time each time a client/server pair exchanges a packet.
If a monitoring device does not calculate the metric the minimum number of times, the status of the metric is Unrated for the 5-minute interval.
