View and manage the properties of a NI GigaStor monitoring devices.

Property Details

Complete the following fields:

Server Name

Specifies the DNS name of the NI GigaStor server. If you do not know the server name, type the server's IPv4 address in the Management Address field and click DNS to query DNS for the name.

Management Address

Specifies the IPv4 address of the NI GigaStor server. If you do not know the IP address, type the DNS name in the Server Name field and click IP to query DNS for the IP address.

Incident Response

Choose an incident response to specify how the management console responds to an incident condition on the NI GigaStor.

Packet Capture

Specifies the whether to enable CA Application Delivery Analysis to view packet captures on the NI GigaStor.

Assigned To

Displays the monitoring device to which the NI GigaStor is assigned. The NI GigaStor must be assigned to a CA Multi-Port Monitor or a CA Standard Monitor. If you have a Standalone management console, the NI GigaStor is assigned to the management console.

Last Monitored

Displays the date and time of the most recent 5-minute interval during which the monitoring device provided application response time data. Keep in mind that CA Application Delivery Analysis reporting is at a 5-minute granularity, so it is normal to see a time stamp that is up to 5 minutes old.

GigaStor Reader Status

Displays the status of the NI GigaStor Connector. The Connector is responsible for sending packet digests to its assigned monitoring device.

Expert Probe Status

Displays the status of the NI Observer Expert software on the appliance. NI Observer Expert is responsible for providing data to the NI GigaStor Connector.

Versions

Displays the installed versions of the NI GigaStor Connector and Observer Expert software on the NI GigaStor appliance.

The Blue Gear  Menu

Use the blue gear  menu to perform basic operations on the NI GigaStor monitoring device:

Start

Start the Connector. While the Connector has a Running status, it sends packet digest files to its assigned monitor for management console reports.

Stop

Stop the Connector. While the Connector has a Stopped status, the NI GigaStor continues to write packets to disk, but the Connector does not send packet digest files to its assigned monitor. Resulting data gaps in management console reports can be resolved by viewing the actual data on the NI GigaStor using NI Observer Expert.

Synchronize Monitor Devices

Synchronize the NI GigaStor to monitor application performance based on the client networks, server subnets, and application ports that are currently defined on the management console.
