• What happens if I change a SNMP profile? Changes to a SNMP profile are automatically propagated to any SNMP trap notifications, servers, or network devices to which the profile is assigned. For example, if you rename a SNMP profile, and the SNMP profile is assigned to a server, the renamed SNMP profile continues to be assigned to the server. If you have registered the management console with the CA Performance Center, any changes to a SNMP profile are automatically synchronized between the management console and the CA Performance Center.

Property Details

Complete the following fields:

SNMP Profile Name

Displays the name of the SNMP profile. For security reasons, the SNMP profile name should not be the same as the SNMP user name that the profile defines.

Version

Indicates the SNMP version support for the profile:

1/2

Indicates the profile is supported on SNMPv1 and SNMPv2.

3

Indicates the profile is supported on SNMP v3 only. If you choose this setting, be sure to also specify the SNMP v3 settings.

User Name

Specify a SNMPv1 or SNMPv2 community, or a SNMPv3 user that is known on the server or router.

SNMP v3 settings

Specify the following settings for an SNMP v3 user:

Context

If the network device is configured with a SNMP context name, specify the context name. Otherwise, leave this field blank.

Security Level

The level of SNMPv3 security that is configured for the SNMPv3 user on a server or network device:

No Authentication, No Privacy

If you select this option, no additional configuration is required.

Authentication, No Privacy

If you select this option, you must specify the authentication protocol and password, and confirm the password.

Authentication, Privacy

If you select this option, you must specify the authentication and privacy protocols and passwords, and confirm the passwords.

Authentication Protocol

The authentication protocol that is configured for the SNMPv3 user. Choose one of the following:

None

No authentication protocol for the user.

MD5

Use Message Digest 5 (MD5) as the authentication protocol.

SHA

Use Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA) as the authentication protocol.

Authentication Password and Verify

Specify and confirm the authentication password that is configured for the SNMP user.

Privacy Protocol

The privacy protocol that is configured for the SNMPv3 user. You can choose one of the following:

None

No privacy protocol for the user.

DES

Use Data Encryption Standard (DES) for encryption.

AES

Use Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) for encryption.

3DES

Use triple DES (3DES) for encryption.

Privacy Password and Verify

Specify and confirm the privacy password that is configured for the SNMP user.
