Upgrade IIS Web Server Appliance
The following steps describe the process for upgrading a Windows IIS appliance, using /system_ms:IIS08S as an example.
Follow these steps:
- Open the GUI, then create and open a new application. This creates a sandbox application that you delete in the final step.
The application displays in the Infrastructure Editor.
- Drag an instance of the IIS08S appliance from the system_ms catalog to the canvas.
- Branch the class instance.
- Right click the singleton and select Modify Boundary. The Class Definition dialog box displays.
In the Documentation URL field, enter the catalog datasheet URL. For example:
http://doc.3tera.com/AppLogicxx/index.htm?toc.htm?1978955.html
where xx is the new version of CA AppLogic
- Select the Volume tab, then add a 100 MB ntfs08 volume or, for a Windows Server 2003, add a ntfs03 volume.
Configure the singleton to use this volume as its content volume.
- Click OK. The Infrastructure Editor displays.
- Save and start the application. Do not close the GUI.
- Open a 3t shell and ssh into the running singleton.
- Open the graphical console for the singleton and log in as Administrator.
- Execute the MSI installer by double-clicking the file IIS_Windows-*.exe in Windows Explorer.
- In the ssh session, open on the singleton:
- rm -f *.exe
- Set a new complex Administrator password, such as net user administrator a3893hf092jfww.^JDFoi8hfwehohgw
- Exit and then ssh back into the running singleton
- rm -f ~/.bash_history
- Exit
- Access the GUI and select the application. The application displays in the Infrastructure Editor.
- Click the Restart icon. This stops and restarts the application. The application updates the parameters, such as setting a random admin password, that were manually updated in the previous steps.
- Click the Stop icon.
- Drag the singleton to the user catalog.
- Access the 3t shell and execute the following commands to destroy or archive the existing class:
- Access the GUI, then destroy the application that you created in step 1.
