Modify BFC Administration Properties

The BFC tab of the Administration page enables you to modify properties for specifying NTP server, power control and backup IPMI authentication, and IP authority.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click Administration on the left Menu.

    The Administration page opens.

  2. Click the BFC tab.
  3. Specify the following fields:
    Primary and Secondary NTP Server

Specifies the server name or IP address for the primary and secondary NTP servers. Use this feature if you want the BFC to synchronize its time with an external server.

    Alert History

Specifies the number of days alert history is saved by the BFC. Alerts display in an Alerts dialog you can open from a link in the product masthead.

    Power Control Authentication

Generates a new power user/password and configures these values on all servers in the BFC. This option allows new values to be generated as necessary for security purposes.

    Backup IPMI Authentication

Specifies an existing IPMI username/password to use if the system-generated IPMI user setup fails.

    IP Authority (required)
    User

(Recommended Setting) Indicates that the power controllers for the grid servers currently have addresses on the power network and should retain those addresses.

    System

Indicates that the BFC can re-assign power controller addresses on the power network. You should only select System IP authority if you never want to access the power control functionality (including using a DRAC or DRAC-like interface) outside of the BFC.

The BFC will always configure a power user for BFC IPMI access to power controllers.

  4. Click Save

    Your changes are saved.
