Disk Controller Requirements and Compatibility

This section lists the full set of compatible disk and network controllers. Use this information to verify hardware compatibility.

Network Hardware and Adapter Requirements and Compatibility

• Two Gigabit or 10 GB Ethernet switches (one for external, one for backbone network)
  • Must have as many ports as you have servers, plus one
  • Must have a total bandwidth that will provide full 1G any-to-any connection between the servers
  • For Network HA to be enabled
    • must have 2 of each type of switch (2 external switches and 2 backbone switches)
    • each switch must have LLDP enabled (link layer discovery protocol)
  • STP disabled on Backbone Switches
• Power Management Network Switch (IPMI v1.5 or better) strongly recommended

Note: To use VLAN tagging, the switch must support VLANs

Network adapters providing less than 1 Gigabit are supported only on the external network.

10-Gigabit Ethernet

The section lists the 10G Ethernet network adapters that are supported both for the private network and for the external network.

Gigabit Ethernet

This section lists the Gigabit Ethernet network adapters that are supported both for the private network and for the external network.

Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps)

This section lists the additional 100 Mbps Ethernet network adapters that are supported only for the external network. Devices that have been added by the df6200 hotfix are denoted by an asterisk.
