Incremental Synchronization

An incremental synchronization lets you synchronize only the most recent changes made to the Logonid and Infostorage databases. Incremental synchronization is really a selective synchronization with an automated front‑end that generates the required selective control statements for user and resource authorization changes. This type of synchronization is more efficient because it takes less processing time to keep the catalog up to date. You can also use this type of synchronization to synchronize a newly‑created DB2 resource with a previously‑existing CA ACF2 Option for DB2 resource authorization. Remember, you cannot grant DB2 privileges in the catalog for resources until they are created. CA ACF2 Option for DB2, however, lets you write authorizations for DB2 resources that do not yet exist. An incremental synchronization lets you take advantage of this CA ACF2 Option for DB2 feature.

Keeping the catalog up‑to‑date can be further simplified by using a scheduling package, such as CA 7, to synchronize on a daily or weekly basis.
