Selective Synchronization

A selective (item‑specific) synchronization lets you specify which users and resources to synchronize. For example, you can synchronize only users whose logonids begin with PAY, users who UID matches **PY*A, or users with a logonid bit field of DB2PROD. Likewise, you can synchronize all resources, all table resources, or just the table resources that begin with PAYROLL. With masking and the use of certain parameters, you can further define the scope of the Catalog Synchronization Utility.

For example, if your purpose is to let a product such as QMF or CA Easytrieve Plus use the DB2 catalog information, you can periodically run a selective synchronization on just table resources.
