Configuring Discovery Options
The BFC enables you to configure the Automatic Discovery feature for the current backbone network as needed. Automatic Discovery is off by default.
To configure the discovery options
- Select Administration from the left Menu.
The Administration page appears.
- Click the Discovery tab.
- Select the Off option button next to Automatic Discovery. When this option is off, new servers are not discovered when they are powered on. In addition, Automatic Discovery must be turned off before you can specify the Discovery Mode.
- Indicate if you want to use blacklist or whitelist discovery mode. In whitelist mode, only servers that are on the whitelist will be discovered by this BFC when they PXE boot on the backbone network. In blacklist mode, all servers that PXE boot on the backbone network will be discovered except those that are on the blacklist. Servers are specified by providing their backbone NIC's MAC address.
- After choosing the appropriate Discovery mode and clicking Save, you will be prompted to turn on Server Discovery. Choose Yes to enable Discovery of servers in backbone. Whitelist or blacklists can only be edited while discovery is off. If you later decide to change the discovery mode, any existing quarantine lists you have created will be deleted.
