Delimiters

To update TMC or DSNB EXPDT values, dates that can be entered as PARMs or in control statements can be accepted with or without delimiters. A delimiter is a special character such as a single quote. The delimiter appears in the first position of a value and at the end of the value. For example:

EXPDT=DDMMMYYYY
EXPDT='DDMMMYYYY'

Important! Expiration dates can be specified with or without delimiters. However, if delimiters are not used, it is recommended that slashes, periods, or dashes be used as separators instead of commas, because commas are used as separators between parameter specifications. Dates that contain commas or blanks must be specified within delimiters to allow the program to correctly interpret the syntax of the statement.
