Updates to TMSCTL#2 should be performed only when there is no TMC activity. It is recommended that the verify operation be performed when updating TMSCTL#2. The samples below assume that PARM=NOVER was not coded.

• Add unused DSNB(s) not currently in the free chain:

  PASSWORD=system-password
  CTL2
  VER RECID=TMSCTL#2
  VER NXAVAIL=current-NXAVAIL-value
  REP NXAVAIL=unused-DSNB-number
  DSNB unused-DSNB-number
  VER NEXT=current-NEXT-value
  REP NEXT=current-NXAVAIL-value
  

• Append an unused DSNB chain that chains through end-of-chain to the last DSNB referenced by Control Record #2:

  PASSWORD=system-password
  DSNB last-DSNB-from-CTL2
  VER NEXT=value-in-unused-DSNB
  REP NEXT=first-DSNB-in-unused-chain
