Control Statement Specification

The control statements are optional, even the SYSIN DD statement is optional. If SYSIN is present, all control statements must reside on one control statement starting at position 1, and must be separated by commas.

AIVS=xxxxxx

This specifies that all volume records read from the import file are reassigned a new (unique) external VOLSER starting with volume xxxxxx. Only volume records in delete status are selected for use. All volume chain information and DSNB volume pointers are changed to reflect the new external VOLSER. However, if the merging VOLSER is in the TMC and in delete status, the merging VOLSER is used instead of assigning a new AIVS VOLSER in the range specified. The Report-51 created by TMSMERGE will list the new external VOLSER in the VOLSER field. The old internal VOLSER and old external VOLSER are listed in the same line.

FOREIGN=xxxxxx

This is similar to AIVS= but only applies to volumes that have the TMNRS indicator in TMC FLAG4 X'04' turned on (indicating they are foreign volumes). A new external VOLSER is assigned, starting with the first volume in delete status after xxxxxx. The Report-51 created by TMSMERGE will list the new external VOLSER in the VOLSER field. The old internal VOLSER and old external VOLSER are listed in the same line.

CATALOG=NEVER|AIVS|ALWAYS

This control statement indicates if any recatalog operations should take place. If NEVER is specified, then no recataloging is done (this is the default). If AIVS is specified, then any AIVS or foreign data set that is assigned a new external VOLSER may be recataloged to the new external VOLSER. This recatalog operation will occur if either A) the file is currently cataloged to the old external VOLSER or B) the file is currently not cataloged on the system and that the OSCAT indicator is on (indicating the file had been cataloged on the system it was 'split' from). If ALWAYS is specified, a catalog is attempted for all files MERGEd that have the OSCAT indicator on. If ALWAYS is specified, files assigned a new external VOLSER are treated the same as if CATALOG=AIVS had been specified.
