Control Statement Definition
Specifies the data set name to be overridden. This data set name appears in the TMC record. For generation data sets, do not specify the GDG or relative generation number. If you are specifying the entire data set name for a GDG do not put a "-" at the end to mask the "GnnnnVnnn" portion on the name. The DSN keyword is required if the MGMTCLAS keyword is not specified. The DSN keyword may begin in any position, and may be specified using CA 1 pattern masking rules. If the data set name contains special characters (other than masking characters), it must be enclosed within single quotes, such as DSN='ABC$'. If any of the special characters in the data set name match a masking character, the character must be immediately preceded by a back slash (\). Reference the Programming Guide, CA 1 Pattern Masking Feature, for complete details. DSN may not be specified with MGMTCLAS.
Specifies the SMS Management Class found in the TMC record to be used to assign retention. SMS Management Class is obtained during data set OPEN processing, updated using the batch utility TMSSMSUP, or updated manually. The MGMTCLAS keyword is required if the DSN keyword is not specified. The MGMTCLAS keyword may begin in any position, and is eight characters maximum. MGMTCLAS may not be specified with DSN or JOB and must be fully qualified. Pattern masking may not be used.
Specifies an expiration date or hold criteria. This value can be a CA 1 keyword, a preferred date, or a Julian date. The expiration date specified must be greater than the system date at execution of TMSEXPDT. Delimiters are required if the date contains blanks or commas. For more information on valid date formats, see Overriding the Preferred Date Pattern. Expiration dates in the range of 98000 through 99365 are treated as Julian dates and are now invalid since the date is in the past. For more information on CA 1 keyword dates see Specifying CA 1 Keywords.
Important! When you specify a preferred date for EXPDT, any subsequent revision to the DATEFMT option in hlq.CTAPOPTN or to the DATEFMT=(fmt) parameter in the TMSEXPDT program JCL may result in an abend. Therefore, use extreme caution when revising either of these patterns.
You are strongly advised to change the date pattern of the preferred date for EXPDT so that it reflects the newly revised date pattern specified in hlq.CTAPOPTN or in the TMSEXPDT program JCL. This restriction applies only to the preferred date; if you are using a CA 1 keyword or a date in Julian format for EXPDT, this warning can be ignored.
Specifies the number of days to be added to the creation date to arrive at the new expiration date for the data set. If the creation date is zero, the system date is used.
Specifies the number of working days (which excludes weekends) to be added to the creation date to arrive at the new expiration date. Weekends are adjusted for in calculating the new expiration date. If the creation date is zero, the system date is used. WRETPD is a TMSEXPDT keyword and will cause a JCL error if used outside of the Retention Data Set. TMSEXPDT places the value specified on the control statement for WRETPD on TMS Report 22, not the calculated number of days retention.
Is the creating job name for the data set. This is an optional keyword and is used to qualify the RDS rule. Pattern masking specification may be used. Different expiration dates can be assigned to the same DSN created by different jobs. This keyword is not valid with MGMTCLAS, only DSN.
Specifies that the RDS rule for the DSN or MGMTCLAS is to apply to all matching entries in the TMC. Selects and reassigns the expiration date based on the EXPDT or RETPD provided. This option can significantly increase processing time. SELECT is mutually exclusive with JOBNAME.
