Cycle Abuse

Cycle abuse is the difference in EXPDT values between two Cycle Controlled tapes with the same DSN. For example, the Cycle Control for a data set is CYCLE/003 (three cycles). The keyword was erroneously changed for one creation of a data set to CYCLE/030 (30 cycles). The one data set created with CYCLE/030 keeps 30 tapes under Cycle Control until the 31st cycle is created. With a cycle abuse limit of 27 or less, TMSCYCLE reports this data set as abusing the cycle limit.
