Use the DYNCOMM utility to send and receive transaction records of all tape activity between CA 1 and CA Dynam/T.
All tapes used by the CA Dynam/T system must be initially defined in the CA 1 Tape Management Catalog (TMC).
Information is extracted from the CA 1 Audit data set and written to the common communications queue to be used to update the CA Dynam/T catalog; conversely, CA Dynam/T tape activity information is updated in the CA 1 TMC from a common communication queue.
DYNCOMM can be executed either as a started task or batch program. If DYNCOMM is to be executed as a started task, the MVS console operator must initiate its execution by issuing the following MVS start command:
S DYNCOMM
When executed, DYNCOMM attaches two subtasks, SEND and RECV. If there is no data to send (there are no new records on the Audit data set), the SEND task will wait for a user-specified period of time. If there are no records to receive, the RECV task will turn itself off for a user-specified period. When the SEND task again becomes active, it begins processing the Audit data set at the point where it ceased processing during the prior period of activity.
When records are sent from CA 1, they are placed on a DASD queue (the sending queue), which is shared with CA Dynam/T. Likewise, when records are received, they are read from a different DASD queue (the receiving queue), which is also shared with CA Dynam/T. The CA 1 sending queue is the same data set that CA Dynam/T uses as its receiving queue; the CA 1 receiving queue is the same data set as the CA Dynam/T sending queue. This queue relationship is graphically illustrated by the figure on DYNCOMM - CA Dynam/T Interface Queue Processing.
Once started, DYNCOMM continues to execute until the MVS console operator issues the following MVS stop command:
P DYNCOMM
CA 1 must be active or batch active to run DYNCOMM.
