This following CA 1 utilities are available:
Used to erase residual data from a tape's prior use.
Used to test the character strings or patterns that you have created. Each is checked for conformity and proper syntax. A report is issued to aid in resolving invalid pattern errors.
Allows the synchronization between CA 1 and the 3495/3494 Library Control System (LCS) databases.
Tests CA 1 operating system intercepts and other functions.
Sends and receives transaction records using the common communications queue for the CA Dynam/T interface.
Generates the TMC database extract to be used by DYNSYNC for the CA Dynam/T interface.
Formats the common communication queues used by the CA Dynam/T interface.
Releases the CA Dynam/T interface's common communications queue that has remained locked as a result of a system failure.
Processes the database extracts from CA 1 and CA Dynam/T® to determine differences for the CA Dynam/T interface and generates input for updating the databases.
Processes the output from DYNSYNC used to update the TMC to resolve discrepancies for the CA Dynam/T interface.
Identifies a subcomponent provided to interface CA 1 installation and initialization functions with the CA Common Services CAIRIM component.
Maintains DSNB record chains in the TMC.
This sub program of the TMSXTEND reads the audit file to determine the systems sharing the TMC and their maintenance level. It can also be run in standalone mode to provide this information in the summary format.
Provides a way to analyze and report on TMC activity. This program allows you to specify aspects of the report with control statements.
Produces reports about the format of the TMC and Audit, or the content of records in the TMC. This program allows you to specify aspects of the reports.
Builds TMMVOLDF statements for use with the CA 1 supplied exits TMSXITU and TMSXITE.
This subprogram of TMSXTEND builds a new TMC when adding or removing volume ranges or DSNBs. It can also be executed to create and initialize a new TMC.
Verifies that packed decimal fields, such as date and time, are valid in the TMC.
Reports CA 1 maintenance levels of key processing modules. Useful when contacting CA 1 support.
Processes and expires tapes under Days Since Last Used Control, resets the expiration date for Catalog Days Control to Catalog Control, resets Catalog Control to a real expiration date, and produces reports listing new scratch volumes and scratch volume inventory.
Processes output from TMSCLEAN with clean criteria and out-of-area criteria.
Reads SMF and other user input data sets to create transaction files for processing by TMSUPDTE, TMSFORMT, TMSGRW and TMSEXPDT.
Backs up the TMC/Audit and restores the TMC.
Processes and removes tapes from Catalog Control.
Processes and removes tapes from Cycle Control.
Creates sequential data sets from TMC volume and DSNB records for use in TMSGRW processing or for programs written in-house.
Sets Volume records to active or inactive status and lists volumes in inactive status.
Performs Batch Auxiliary Disposition processing.
Applies retention to data sets from the Retention Data Set (RDS).
Formats/extends the TMC or formats the Audit file.
Initializes all first volume serial number fields (DSNBFVSN) in all DSNB records which is required for security processing. This utility need not be run for users at Release 5.1 or later as the DSNBFVSN is always updated at these levels.
Selects TMC or Audit records to print reports in a customized format.
Processes lists of volume information or MVS catalog listings to create transactions to be used to create a new TMC when no tape management system is available to convert.
Activates, batch activates, deactivates or reactivates CA 1 and initiates CA 1 health checks.
Validates CA 1 hlq.CTAPOPTN Scratch Pool Management members.
Creates external tape label requests using the Audit file.
Merges data provided from TMSSPLIT to another TMC.
Constructs multivolume pointers for TMC Volume records.
Compares the system catalog to the TMC and identifies the differences. It can also be used to set the OSC bit in each volume or DSNB. This may need to be done after a conversion from another tape management product to CA 1.
Checks the multivolume, multi-data set and DSNB free chains to verify the internal integrity of the TMC.
Produces library pull and setup lists for tape volume prestaging.
Physically removes Volume records from the TMC.
TMC Extend monitor.
Captures tape activity data from an SMF extract file and formats it as TMSAGGR and TMSUPDTE transactions.
Obtains SMS Management Class and updates the TMC.
Selects data from a TMC for use by TMSMERGE.
Reports the CA 1 options in hlq.CTAPOPTN presently active in the operating system.
Performs tape volume header label initialization.
Verifies tape VOLSER header labels, constructs TMC records, and erases sensitive data from scratched tapes.
Provides batch updates to DSNB/Control Records.
Uses output file from TMSCLEAN to uncatalog data sets on other systems.
Provides batch updates to Volume records.
Validates the Vault Pattern Description (VPD) data set for errors and selects TMC records to be processed by the Vault Management System.
Updates the TMC to reflect tape volume movement for the Vault Management System.
Processes the validated and reformatted Vault Pattern Description (VPD) data set and the TMC records passed from TMSVMEDT to determine the Vault Management System's movement of volumes.
The Dynamic TMC Extend utility, allows you to add or remove volume ranges or DSNB records, reblock or move the TMC to a new volume while tape processing is active.
Some of the above programs produce reports that can be minimally controlled via PARMs on the EXEC statement. Most reports are written using CA Earl and can be easily customized.
