Real-time Expiration Processing

You can optionally activate Real-time Expiration processing by adding a TMSRDS DD statement for the Retention Data Set (RDS) to your TMSINIT procedure. When Real-time Expiration processing is activated this way, TMSINIT processes the RDS rules that you have defined and creates an in-memory table that is referenced as each tape file is being created. For each tape file matching a retention rule, the Tape Management Catalog (TMC) is updated with the corresponding expiration date specified in the RDS.
