TMSPTRS Utility—Maintain Multivolume/Multi-Data Set Chains

Execute TMSPTRS regularly to report on errors that may exist in the TMC multi-volume and multi-data set chains and in the unused DSNB chain. Certain types of errors in these chains can cause tape jobs to abend.

TMSPTRS generates TMS Report 29 - Invalid Pointers to describe any chaining errors that exist in the TMC.

Note: For more information about errors and the corrective action, see the Message Reference Guide.

You can also use the Automatic Pointers Error Correction (TMSAPEC) subtask of the CTS address space to inspect and repair problems in the multi-volume and multi-data set chains. TMSAPEC is documented in CA 1 Automatic Pointers Error Correction.
