TMC/Audit Restoration

The Tape Management Catalog (TMC) needs to be restored if:

  1. A full-volume restore has overlaid the TMC.
  2. The TMC was incorrectly specified as eligible to be archived, was archived but was then RESTOREd from the archive backup.
  3. Hardware problems (such as HDA failures and I/O errors) occur on the unit storing the TMC.
  4. The TMC was not allocated as unmovable (DSORG=PSU) and failed in a DASD defragmentation or compaction operation.

Note: For more information about restoring the Tape Management Catalog (TMC), see TMSCOPY in the Utilities and Reports Reference Guide.

If similar problems occur on the Audit data set, reformat it with the TMSFORMT utility.

Note: For more information about the process involved in reformatting the Audit data set, refer to the Utilities and Reports Reference Guide
