The CA TM Server performs multiple administrative duties and helps you to manage all CA TM client machines from a centralized location. Specifically, the CA TM Server provides the following management services:
Organizes managed machines in a tree to group together machines with similar policies. This helps reduce the effort needed to manage large numbers of CA TM Clients
Initiates the discovery of client machines running the CA TM Agent. The discovery process finds and returns the client machines on a particular subet that are running the CA TM Agent.
Manages the policies that control the CA TM Agent's behavior, including RealTime Protection, scheduled scans, signature and program updates, and other policies.
Uses alert messages that have been forwarded from the client machines running the CM TM Agent to create various reports and populate the Dasbhoard's "Top 10" lists.
Distributes license information to CA TM client machines automatically. The license is installed during the installation of the CA TM Server and is based on managed node count and expiration date.
