Create an Alert Forwarding Policy for CA TM Clients
Use this procedure to create Alert Forwarding policies for Tier 2 or lower machines.
To create an Alert Forwarding policy for the CA TM client machines in Tier 2 or lower
- Click on Policy Management.
- For Application select Common, and for Type select Alert Forwarding.
- Click on New.
- Enter a descriptive name, such as Client Alerts.
- Click the Alert tab and check Local Alert Manager and Forward to client name.
- In the Forward to client name text box enter the name of the ITM Server (Tier 1) or the name of a designated intermediate machine in the tiered hierarchy.
For example, the CA TM clients in Tier 5 can forward alerts to a local machine in a higher tier (Tiers 2, 3, or 4 ) that collect and forward alerts to machines that in a higher tier. Eventually all collected alerts are forwarded to the CA TM Server (Tier 1).
- Click on the Alert Filter tab and select Custom Notification.
- In the drop-down menu, select Malware Detection Report.
- Select all components that apply to your product, and then click on Apply.

- The new policy is displayed in the Policies area.
- In the Policies area, click Assign.
- Click the name of the branch that contains your client machines, and then click the Right arrow button.
- Click the Assign Branches button. Repeat this and the previous step if you have multiple branches that contain client machines.
