Big blocks transfer much faster than small blocks. For client-initiated transfers, use BINARY mode rather than TEXT mode and specify a large value for maximum record length. Or you can use record packing by specifying CARRIAGE_FLAG=MPACK or XPACK. When using the GUI, these values are set in the Encoding options on the Edit Transfer window. Select ASCII (2K or 31K Pack), BINARY(2K or 31K Pack), or EBCDIC (2K or 31K Pack) depending on the protocol being used.
