Configuring the IBM Communications Server

This section contains the procedures required for configuring the IBM Communications Server for AIX for CA XCOM

Data Transport for AIX after CA XCOM Data Transport is installed.

Note: You do not need to configure SNA if you are only using CA XCOM Data Transport with TCP/IP.

In your SNA configuration file, you must modify the MODE directive and specify transaction program (TP) directives for use with CA XCOM Data Transport for AIX.

Sample configuration files for IBM Communications Server for AIX can be found in /usr/spool/xcom/config/.

Note: The values you use for the transaction programs should match those of the CA XCOM Data Transport Partner for the particular workstation you are configuring.

The following transaction programs (TPs) must be configured for use with CA XCOM Data Transport for AIX:

For each TP, specify the following:

For connecting to an IBM mainframe, the Mode entry XCOMMODE must match the XCOMMODE defined in VTAM for the PU.

Note: For IBM Communication Server for AIX, the configuration commands can be accessed through the System Management Interface Tool (SMIT).
