xx yy tttttt VSAM IDS [(OPEN)|(CLOSE)] ACB FAILURE

Reason:

The OPEN or (CLOSE) for the VSAM IDS was unsuccessful. If xx=04, this indicates that the VSAM IDS was not opened or closed in a normal way (such as when CA Workload Automation SE abends rather than shuts down normally). No action is required. Another CA-7.BTMV message should follow indicating the verify macro completed successfully. Issued by SASSBTMV.

If xx=08 or greater, the pack on which the VSAM IDS resides may have had an I/O error. If xx=08, the following are possible reasons for the error:

• There was not enough space to do a normal VSAM OPEN (or CLOSE).
• If a security package is being used, CA Workload Automation SE may not have authorization to access the IDS.

Action:

If xx=08 or greater, CA Workload Automation SE will abend with a U0955 abend. If xx=08, first verify the CWORK parameter value in the CA Workload Automation SE Execution JCL. If the CWORK value is high enough, check for security package definitions for the VSAM IDS to ensure that CA Workload Automation SE can access it. If none of the above applies, the IDS may need to be verified through IDCAMS or a database recovery may need to be done.
