File System Security Considerations

The CA Workload Automation Agent for HP Integrity NonStop consists of executable programs, configuration files, TACL scripts, temporary files, and log files. The agent is installed under the SUPER.SUPER user ID, which assures that file security will not be a problem for the agent executables, configuration files, and scripts during the agent installation. However, as it processes job requests, the agent creates temporary files, spool files, and job logs. These files are created under the HP Integrity NonStop user ID sent by the scheduling manager, which is not necessarily the SUPER.SUPER ID. If the HP NonStop Integrity Safeguard security subsystem, or a comparable third-party security system, is in place on the system, security must allow for the handling of temporary, spool file, and job log files.

To avoid security issues that could prevent the agent from processing jobs, configure your system’s security such that a job’s user ID has read, write, execute, and purge capabilities on the subvolumes named SP*, *CFG, and *LOG on the agent installation volume.
