View Management Console Dialog

You can use the View Management Console dialog to create, modify, copy, delete, import, or export view definitions and to create, modify, or delete alert policies. How the View Management Console dialog is opened determines the contents with which the text area may be pre-populated. For example, if you select VMC, the dialog opens displaying a blank text area where you can enter the commands and attributes that define your view or alert policy. If you select multiple views from the Views table and select Edit from the pop-up menu, the dialog opens with the complete definition for those views pre-populated in the text area.

This dialog contains the following sections:

Commands section

Defines one or more views or alert policies using a set of predefined commands and attributes. This may start out blank or it may be pre-populated with one or more definitions.

Notes:

View Commands

Displays the valid commands and attributes available to create or modify a view. Clicking a command link populates the Commands section with the correct command syntax.

Filter Commands

Displays the valid commands and attributes available to create or modify a filter. Clicking a command link populates the Commands section with the correct command syntax.

Note: You cannot modify a view’s filter to change the name of the server to which it points. You must first delete the current filter and insert a new filter.

Alert Policy Commands

Displays the valid commands and attributes available to create, modify, or delete an alert policy. Clicking a command link populates the Commands section with the correct command syntax.

This dialog contains the following buttons:

Import

Transfers the views from a text file to the Commands section of the View Management Console dialog.

Export

Saves the view and filter commands to a text file.

Execute

Verifies the validity of the view definition and runs the commands. If there are errors, a message explaining the errors is displayed in the View Management Console.

Close

Displays a cancellation message and closes the dialog.
