Configure CA Workload Automation AE to Work with the Notification Services Component of CA NSM

You can integrate CA Workload Automation AE with the Notification Services component of CA NSM to send wired and wireless messages, using protocols and devices, to operators or administrators who resolve problems or attend to emergencies. To send a notification request to the Notification Services component of CA NSM, CA Workload Automation AE requires the node name of the Notification Services Manager. If the manager is not installed locally on the CA Workload Automation AE server, the Notification Services Agent requires a valid CAICCI connection to the Notification Services Manager.

Important! To integrate CA Workload Automation AE with the Notification Services component of CA NSM, you must install a Notification Services Agent on the CA Workload Automation AE server. You can install the Notification Services Agent from the CA NSM media.

Note: For more information about the Notification Services component of CA NSM, see the Windows Implementation Guide.

After installing and configuring the Notification Services component of CA NSM, you must configure the CA Workload Automation AE server to activate its notification interface.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, Programs, CA, Workload Automation AE, Administrator.

The Instance - CA Workload Automation AE Administrator window opens.

  2. Select an instance from the Instance drop-down list in the Settings pane.
  3. Click the Integration icon on the toolbar.

The Integration - CA Workload Automation AE Administrator window appears. The Notification tab is selected by default.

  4. Select Unicenter Notification from the Method drop-down list.

The Server Node and Timeout fields appear.

Note: If you select None from the Method drop-down list, CA Workload Automation AE does not send notifications even if you specify the notification attributes in the job definition.

  5. Complete the following fields as appropriate, and click Apply:
    Server Node

Identifies the computer name of the Notification Services server.

    Timeout

Defines the time-out (in seconds) the client uses when requiring an acknowledgement from the Notification Services server.

Default: 30; this default is sufficient for the server to respond to a client request.

  6. Click the Services icon on the toolbar.

The Services - CA Workload Automation AE Administrator window appears, displaying a list of services installed on the selected instance.

  7. Right-click the scheduler service, and click Pause.

    The scheduler pauses.

  8. Right-click the scheduler service, and click Resume.

The scheduler resumes. CA Workload Automation AE is configured to work with the Notification Services component of CA NSM, and you can now send notification requests.
