Reason:
CA VM:Tape cannot find the Shared Tape Allocation Manager (STAM) control area on the indicated device. STAM initialization aborts. If the VMTAPE CONFIG file specifies STAM AUTO, CA VM:Tape initialization also fails.
Action:
Ask the CA VM:Tape system administrator to see that the STAM control area resides in the unformatted area of a CMS minidisk. The CA VM:Tape System Administrator's Guide description of the VMTSTF utility gives an explanation of the STAM reserved area. When the problem is corrected, start STAM again and, if necessary, start CA VM:Tape again.
