Reason:
You specified an invalid virtual or real device address. A valid device address consists of one to four characters.
When you issue the MOUNT or ALLOCATE command, virtual machines that are not running in ECMODE can only specify hexadecimal virtual addresses up to 5FF. If you received this message in response to a command that was issued, CA VM:Tape terminates the command with return code 24. If this message is in response to a VMTAPE CONFIG file problem, CA VM:Tape initialization terminates.
Action:
If the message is in response to a command that was issued, enter the command again using a valid virtual or real device address. If the message is in response to a problem with the VMTAPE CONFIG file, specify a valid real device address on the DEVICE record in the configuration file.
