ASSIGN Command

Use the ASSIGN command to assign a new owner, manager, or both to a saved tape or make a non-CA VM:Tape-managed tape a CA VM:Tape-managed tape. A tape is CA VM:Tape-managed if it was created on a system that is using CA VM:Tape. A tape is non-CA VM:Tape-managed if it was created on a non-CA VM:Tape system, such as MVS.

If the tape you specify on this command is part of a multivolume sequence, CA VM:Tape propagates any change you make throughout the volumes and data sets in the sequence.
