Tracking and Handling Rejected Volumes

CA VM:Tape tracks the number of times a volume is rejected. Using the AUTOPICK record, you can specify whether CA VM:Tape should take certain actions when the reject count for a volume exceeds a site-defined threshold. These actions can help your site track lost volumes and allow it to recover or replace them.

The actions CA VM:Tape can take when a volume exceeds the reject threshold include:

• Writing a type 3 audit record to the Audit data set
• Marking the volume as deleted in the TMC
• Inserting a specified value into the OUTCODE field of the volume’s TMC record
• Inserting a specified value into a site-defined EDITDEF field in the volume’s TMC record accounting area
