When the Rules Facility is installed, virtual machines on z/VM can use the sample program in the file VALIDAT XASSEMBL. The VALIDAT XASSEMBL file was loaded to the product userid's sample disk, usually the 2C2 during installation. VALIDAT XASSEMBL is a standalone program that uses DIAGNOSE X’A0’ subcode X’04’ to determine if a password is valid for a user ID.

Before using this sample program, review the program to ensure that it provides the functionality for your system’s security requirements. Rename it to have a filetype of ASSEMBLE, then compile, and generate an executable MODULE following the instructions in the source program file. If no installation changes are needed for this sample program, a pre-built VALIDAT MODULE is also provided on the system administrator disk.
