Subcode X’04’ is used to validate the logon password for a user. This validation works for traditional passwords only, and it cannot validate password phrases. The Diagnose code X’88’ subcode X'08' facility provided by IBM should be used as a replacement for this interface. Diagnose X’88" supports either traditional passwords or password phrases.
