CA VM:Secure Command Authorization

Authorization to execute VM:Secure commands is needed for three types of user IDs in order to utilize the SMAPI services:

1. The user ID of the LOGIN RPC procedure used to login to the VSMSERVE server
2. The user ID passed as the authorized user on a Socket Server API call
3. The user ID for the short-call Socket Server (VSMWORK1)

These user IDs must be authorized as follows:

• Specify the user ID in the VSMSERVE AUTHLIST file for the RPC server, or

  in the VSMWORK1 AUTHLIST file for the SMAPI Socket Server.

• Specify the user ID on a “GRANT *ALL TO userid” record in the AUTHORIZ

  CONFIG file, using the CONFIG command.

• Use the ADMIN MANAGERS command to configure the user ID as a valid VM:Secure Directory Manager.
