HISTORY Command

Use the HISTORY command to display the history special comments (*HS=) in a USER or IDENTITY directory entry.

HISTORY [entry]

Definition

entry

Specifies the directory entry containing history special comments to display. If you do not specify an entry name, your own history statements are displayed.

Description

History special comments (*HS=) are updated only by LOGONBY Facility, AUTOLOG, LINK, LOGON, LOGON BY, and XAUTOLOG requests that are governed by rules with the HISTORY option specified. The HISTORY command is useful for reviewing past attempts to access a particular virtual machine or its minidisks through these CP commands. You cannot issue the HISTORY command against user IDs on hold.

History special comments are optional and are placed in a directory entry by the GENHS command or by way of the skeleton file used to create the user ID. The number of *HS= statements in each user’s directory entry may vary.

Example

To display the history statements in the FINANCE directory entry, enter:

vmsecure history finance

The response looks like this:

10/05/99 10:05:38 ACCEPTED LINK BY MURPHY TO 191 (RR) 10/05/99 10:02:02 ACCEPTED LOGON FROM 00A6 09/14/99 08:51:50 ACCEPTED LINK BY JONES TO 191 (RR) 09/13/99 17:49:01 ACCEPTED AUTOLOG BY SMITH FROM 0213 09/13/99 17:46:36 ACCEPTED LINK BY MURPHY TO 191 (RR) 09/13/99 17:33:57 ACCEPTED LINK BY REILLY TO 191 (RR) 09/05/99 17:09:30 ACCEPTED AUTOLOG BY SMITH FROM 0213 09/05/99 16:32:26 ACCEPTED LOGON FROM 00A5 09/05/99 13:37:49 ACCEPTED LOGON FROM 199.0.85.48
