Utility Reference

The CA VM:Secure utilities are summarized in the following table:

Utility

Description

PENCRYPT

This utility incorporates all functions contained in the VMXFEN01, VMXFEN02, VMXFEN03, and VMXFEN04 utilities from previous releases of CA VM:Secure. It is used to encrypt and decrypt passwords in your VM directory, so that even those administrators who have access to the CA VM:Secure directory database do not have access to the passwords for logging on or linking to minidisks. The old utility programs from previous releases will be removed in some future release.

SSIENAB

In a Single System Image environment, converts the server source directory minidisk from SSI Ready format to SSI Enabled, or converts from SSI Enabled back to SSI Ready

VMXBKP01

Creates a single CP source directory file from the CA VM:Secure directory database (DRCT) minidisk

VMXBKP02

Uses DDR to copy the CA VM:Secure DRCT minidisk to a mirror–image minidisk

VMXBKP03

Similar to VMXBKP02 except that it uses the CMS COPYFILE command to copy the files. If an alternate utility program is specified on the ALTERNAT COPYFILE configuration record, then the alternate utility program is used to copy the files.

VMXCPG

Creates and configures the replacement CP text files that make up the CA VM:Secure CP component

VMXFEN01

Forward encrypts all passwords in the directory after backing up the clear text database by calling the PENCRYPT utility with the FORWARD operand.

VMXFEN02

Reversibly encrypts all passwords in the directory after backing up clear text database by calling the PENCRYPT utility with the REVERSE operand.

VMXFEN03

Decrypts all passwords in the reversible encrypted database after backing up the encrypted database by calling the PENCRYPT utility with the DECRYPT operand

VMXFEN04

Forward encrypts all passwords in the directory using triple DES encryption algorithm after backing up the database in its current form; plain text or encrypted.

VMXGNR

Generates the CA VM:Secure directory database and converts your CP source directory file to database format.

VMXGNR can also be used to encrypt the directory database

VMXIPL

Writes a program image on the IPLDISK minidisk. When the program is IPLed, it interacts with CA VM:Secure to update a user logon password

VMXMACUP

Updates, optimizes, and replaces source macros, EXECs, and MESSAGES files on the CA VM:Secure service virtual machine

VMXSRA

Generates a report showing audit data on LOGONBY usage; if the Rules Facility is implemented, also reports on the CP commands AUTOLOG, DIAL, LINK, LOGON, SPOOL, STORE HOST, TAG, TRANSFER, and XAUTOLOG

VMXSRB

Generates a report of all audit data captured by the CA VM:Secure Audit Facility

Note: For more information about authorizations required to use the utilities, see the chapter "Authorizations to Use CA VM:Secure Commands and Utilities" in the Administration Guide.
