Controlling the CP LINK Command

Passwords are used for protecting and sharing data. Without the Rules Facility, you can share data on your minidisk with all users, or you can limit access to only those users who know your minidisk password. However, when you share a password with another user, you have compromised the integrity of your data.

The Rules Facility provides you with added control over who can access your data. In addition, you can specify whether an access request is conditional or unconditional:

• A conditional rule specifies that the correct minidisk or logon password must be supplied by the requester for the command to complete successfully.
• An unconditional rule specifies that no password needs to be supplied by the requester. The command automatically completes.
