About CA VM:Secure

This document contains information for the CA VM:Secure for z/VM (CA VM:Secure) product.

CA VM:Secure is a security and directory management product that provides the following:

System and resource access management and control
Directory and disk space management
Data encryption for the z/VM environment

CA VM:Secure enhances z/VM security by combining all of the elements needed for greater control of resources and system access with more efficient management of the people who use the system. This integrated approach to security and directory management helps ensure the following:

Compatibility with current and future releases of z/VM
Central control of access to system resources
Complete synchronization of authorizations, users, and resources defined to z/VM

The product manages the z/VM directory by distributing the burden of user ID and DASD management from a single system administrator to several directory managers. They also allow users to make some directory changes for their own virtual machines.
