Subpool categories are predefined variables that represent certain groups of subpools from which to allocate space. To use subpool categories, you must be a manager and have a subpool list defined in the MANAGERS file. You can specify subpool categories with the following commands:

† Subpools specified by a category include all the subpools listed in the DASD CONFIG file that fall in that category except those defined with the EXPLICIT attribute on a SUBPOOL record.
‡ You must have ANYPOOL authorization to use the *ANY subpool category.
