Holding End User Restore Requests

The CA VM:Backup system administrator can control when CA VM:Backup processes end user restore requests. CA VM:Backup can process requests as they are received or can hold them to be run later. An advantage to holding restore requests is that CA VM:Backup operators can release them for execution during periods of low data center activity, or hold them until tape drives are available to mount the required tapes.

The CA VM:Backup system administrator can dynamically update the VMBACKUP CONFIG file to specify whether requests are to be held or processed immediately. For additional information about holding restore requests, see RESTHOLD Record or the chapter "Managing Configuration Options" in the Administration Guide.
